About
I am Yen Wong, a Malaysian womenswear designer. Within my practice, I am very hands-on, working interchangeably between extensive research and working 3-dimensionally with the body and my materials. Heritage plays a large role in my work, with it having a strong presence within the conception of my work as well as my approach to manufacture, emphasising craftsmanship and the reinterpretation of traditional make techniques. Despite the formality, humour plays an essential role in my work, juxtaposing kitsch and camp against the formality of my subject matter.
